Promotions, Rewards & Referral Terms

These Promotion & Rewards Terms cover Wag Wars, leaderboard and season rewards, the Pawferrals referral program, and the AmbassaDog program in the TailWag app and website. They form part of, and are governed by, our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Where these terms conflict with the Terms of Service on a promotion-specific point, these terms prevail for that promotion.
1. Promoter
The promoter is Peter Warden, trading as TailWag (ABN 91 360 554 740), Victoria, Australia (to be updated to TailWag Pty Ltd on incorporation). Contact: founder@tailwag.app.
2. Eligibility
- Open to TailWag users who are 18 years or older and resident in Australia, with a valid account in good standing (one account per person).
- Our personnel and anyone able to influence outcomes are not eligible to win prizes.
- We may verify eligibility and disqualify entries that breach our Terms, use bots/automation, or manipulate results.
3. Wag Wars, leaderboards & season rewards
- Wag Wars are skill- and activity-based contests (e.g., recorded walk distance/duration over a set period of 1, 3, 5 or 7 days or 1 month). Leaderboard and season standings are determined by your recorded in-app activity, not by chance.
- Each contest's start/end time, scoring metric, and any entry conditions are shown in-app at the time. Results are calculated from server-recorded activity; we may exclude activity we reasonably believe is fraudulent or not genuine.
- Rewards for these contests (where offered) are typically in-app items — WAG XP, badges, leaderboard standing, or membership benefits — which have no monetary or cash value and are governed by section 7.5 of the Terms of Service.
- As run, Wag Wars are games of skill (the winner is determined by measurable recorded activity, not by chance) and are not trade-promotion lotteries, so they do not require a gaming/trade-promotion permit.
Chance-based prizes: If we ever run a Wag War, season, or draw where a prize of value is awarded by chance (random draw) rather than by skill/activity, that promotion is a trade promotion and will be run under the required authority/permit(s) (including a NSW Community Gaming authority and an ACT permit), with its own published terms. Unless a specific promotion says otherwise, our contests are skill/activity-based and award in-app items only.
4. Pawferrals (referrals)
- When someone you refer installs TailWag and completes their first walk (a "confirmed referral"), you may earn rewards as described in-app: currently a one-time 30% discount after 5 confirmed referrals, then a 10% discount for every 2 further confirmed referrals.
- Discount rewards are issued as single-use coupons, are not stackable (in-app or in the web store), are non-transferable, have no cash value, and may have an expiry shown at issue.
- We may withhold or reverse rewards for referrals we reasonably believe are not genuine (e.g., fake or self-referrals).
- Pawferrals is a referral reward for a defined action (a confirmed referral), not a prize draw, so it is not a trade-promotion lottery and does not require a gaming permit.
5. AmbassaDog program
- Selected users may be invited to become AmbassaDogs and may receive complimentary membership or other benefits. Participation and benefits are at our discretion and may be changed or withdrawn at any time; complimentary membership is a benefit, not a paid right.
6. Disclosure of incentives (honest endorsements)
If you take part in Pawferrals or the AmbassaDog program and post publicly about TailWag (social media, reviews, in-app), you must clearly and prominently disclose that you receive a benefit — for example "#ad", "I'm a TailWag AmbassaDog", or "I earn rewards for referrals" — consistent with ACCC guidance on incentivised endorsements. We may pause or withdraw rewards or program participation for non-disclosure or for posting misleading claims. Any testimonial we publish in our own marketing reflects a genuine user's experience, is used with consent, and is not edited to misrepresent their view.
7. Apple
Promotions are in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Apple.
8. General
- We may vary, suspend or end a promotion with reasonable notice, except where doing so is necessary for legal, security or fraud reasons. Changes do not affect rewards already validly earned.
- Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
- These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
